So...
anyway, trapped in the closet is back (\o/) with another 10 chapters. if you've forgotten (how could you?) here is a reminder:
this time around, r (as i like to call him) is taking a variety of roles. unfair to paste too many up (they're all at http://ifc.com/static/sections/kelly/trapped.html), but here's chapter 15 (highlights - 0:55 argument section (wow!) and 5:18 bonnie 'price' billy's cameo as a copper:

The British Corner: James Blackshaw
Saw him in concert a while ago. A true revelation to my ears. Impressive. Inspiring.
Seriously, mankind
Like many other things, this should be a no-go. A NO-GO. How long does this need to go for us to open eyes?

Can: Why are they the greatest band of all-time? Part 1
So, I’ve been putting off explaining it for some time now and that’s not fair. The time has come to spit it out: it’s time to start discussing why Can are the greatest band of all time…
First of all some history… I’d always liked Can’s music since I first heard it (inspired by The Fall’s mighty “I am Damo Suzuki” and had enjoyed exploring Can’s back catalogue over a space of maybe 10 or so years. But it wasn’t until late last year, when I read this posting on the sadly defunct Solid Gold Facts blog, that I realised that, yes indeed, Can were the finest pop group of all time. So how did this come to be? How come they are better than The Beatles, The Stones, The Beach Boys, Neu! and Kraftwerk? I suspect that there are far too many reasons to do all at once, so here’s the first batch:
#1: Chess
Legend has it that many were confused by why Ege Bamyasi was such a short record after the towering rhythmic freak-outs of Tago Mago. Was this a huge artistic gamble? Was it the beginning of punk? No, it was down to Damo and Irmin spending long periods of studio time playing chess (see below):

#2: Mushroom
"When I saw mushroom head
When I saw mushroom head
When I saw mushroom head
I was born and I was dead"
David Niven
Smooth and suave, the Pink Panther actor may have been, but seemingly he also liked his Krautrock too. Niven famously allegedly attended Damo Suzuki’s first live outing with the mighty Can when the intensity of his instant vocal composition stylings almost frightened the audience to the point of rioting.

The Jazz Corner: Part 1
This corner will document all kinds of jazz. I start with a tribute to a very talented saxophonist, Michael Brecker, together with two of his collegues (David Liebman and Joe Lovano).
The Indian/Pakistani Corner: Part 1
I had to open this corner with Nikhil Banerjee, certainly the greatest sitarist of all times. Zakir Hussain on tabla.

Eastenders... wtf?
what the fuck is going on in eastenders?
monday: joy division b-sides billowing out of the vic's jukebox...
tuesday: the melancholy of the smiths' "this night has opened my eyes" soundtracking the luke warm sugary cups of tea and cold greasy food in Kathy's Caff...
friday: him out of blur living in some sort of weird 70/80s theme-pub in dungeoness which out-indies the vic by playing "no love lost" by warsaw (yes - track 3 of a scarce 4-track ep from the pre-cursor of joy division...)
and don't get me started about that whole bus crash/dying in the arms shite...

hmmmm...
wednesday morning and yet again the sunn spills through my windows and the sky is a beautiful blue in west yorkshire.
ignore the lies you may find in others' disturbed ramblings - the constant pitter-patter of the rain on the rooftops can destabilise even the most logical of minds after so many years...

the leeds rain
I woke up this morning and felt sad. Very sad. Very sad for the people who live in Leeds and its surroundings. Look at these statistics available under this link: http://www.worldweather.org/010/c00039.htm. It rains over 172 days in a year in Leeds. Every 2 days or more. Poor people. No wonder that some feel miserable and some are jealous of Berlin where it only rains less than 100 days a year according to the same source. You know, folks from Leeds, showers are good... they keep you clean and water the infamous English gardens. Do not be too sad... I am sending you some sunshine from Berlin. Your beastybeat.
ahhhh....
that is better... this morning my head does not ache and my throat seems much less abrasive than the day before. it is tuesday and yes, of course, the sun beams harshly through my northern english window as i type this. and those less fortunate than me you ask? in berlin, the streets are dry! hurrah! there will be celebrations aplenty tonight in the german capital!

Ouch...
my head hurts and my throat is very sore. this headcold is obviously not going to disappear very easily after all (well, i had been hoping it might do). i opened the curtains... the blast of bright sunshine that comes in through my northern english window is so strong that i momentarily stagger backwards in awe of its power. my limbs are aching but i remember that there are others less fortunate than me.
a quick rattle of the keyboard later and i am staring out at a webcam stuck in berlin's alexanderplatz... yes, as i thought, it is raining in berlin again.
